The Troop Held a Committee Meeting on May 24th. In attendance were: Mr. Anderson, Mr. Bell, Mr. Burton, Mr. Clary, Mr. Freeburger, Mr. Gouldmann, Mr. Luken, and Mr. Myers. Mr. Gouldmann led off the meeting with the Lord's Prayer. The Next committee meeting will be Monday June 21st . Note the change in day. Meetings are held in the Church Lower Room and begin at 7:00 . Please remember that all troop adults are encouraged to attend these meetings.
Next Camping trip - June 11, 12, and 13 Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center . Meet at the scout building at 6:00PM on June 11th .
Troop Elections Results : Chris was elected senior patrol leader and AJ , Jim, Brad, and Alex were elected patrol leaders. Congratulations and good luck to all of you.
Eagle Advancement - Andrew updated the committee on his project. Andrew widened a boardwalk used for bringing canoes to the water at Marshy Point Nature Center . Great Job Andrew!
Special Olympics on June 5, 2004 - Every year the troop helps out with this event, which is held at the U of MD, College Park . Our help usually consists of distributing prepared box lunches. We will leave the scout building at 8:30 and return at approximately 3:00 or 3:30.
Utah/Arizona trip - If you haven't paid your balance you are late. Medical forms should have been turned into Mr. Tim Smith by June 4 th . Mr. Crist will collect raft trip permission forms. The troop will take the swimming test at Mr. Clary's house on a date to be determined. Mr. Ritter and Mr. Crist are planning the food and would like some assistance. Please contact either of them if you can help. Mr. Luken noted that the cost of the trip per person might need to be slightly increased because of the unexpected rising cost of gas. The troop committee will review driving records of adults planning on driving on this trip.
Summer Camp at Broadcreek - The troop has 35 boys planning to attend this camp scheduled for August 8 to 14!
Boy Scout Youth Protection and Diocese STAND Training are required for all adults participating in scouting. They will especially be required for adults attending the Utah or Broadcreek Summer camps. More information on availability will follow or visit the Arch Diocese web site (www.archbalt.org ) for STAND training opportunities.
Other Activities being planned - Brownsea Training Oct 14, 15, 16, and 17, and in the fall, an Appalachian Trail backpacking trip and a night on the US Coast Guard Cutter are being scheduled.
St Joes' Time and Talent Fair after masses on September 25 th and 26 th - Cub Scouts will set up a table to recruit for new scouts. Also, on behalf of the Cub Scouts, Mr. Burton thanked the troop for the use of camping equipment recently borrowed. |
